If you love the sea, and everything about the sea, from diving to surfing, from sailing to water sports, then you’re in the right place in Rhodes. The island in fact is suitable for many sports activities, for all tastes and all ages, but with a natural predilection for the sea.

In fact, many of the island’s beaches host real water sports centers, which can also be booked for private or group lessons: surfing, catamaran sailing, parasailing, sea scooters, pedaloes, canoes and extreme sports are just some of the top activities. And that you can practice on the many shores that surround Rhodes. The Prassonissi beach, for example, which is presented with its golden sand and clear blue sea, allows not only to rent beach umbrellas, deck chairs, but also to practice windsurfing and kitesurfing in maximum freedom.

Very crowded during the summer, Faliraki beach is also equipped with every kind of service for tourists, from the classic rental on the spot with deckchairs, sun umbrellas and sunbeds to sports facilities for fans. Located in the municipality of Kallithea, with fine sand and a length of about five kilometers, Faliraki is in fact equipped for water sports, including snorkeling and deep sea fishing. It is located about 14 kilometers from Rhodes town, in the northern part, one of the most developed and popular coasts of the island.

Regarding the authorized dives, a little caution is required. For fear of the theft of archaeological finds are in fact allowed only diving organized by authorized centers (scuba diving) in the area of Kallithea. Every day, trips and lessons are organized with the release of final certification. In Lardos there is an organized center for underwater fishing.

The paradise of surfers and sailors is instead located in the most western part of the island, where the presence of strong and almost always very strong winds makes it really nice to go out in the open sea with a sailing boat. If you want to rent a boat for an excursion to the nearby islands you can do it in Mandrakio, where you will also find all the appropriate services.

For sports lovers in general, in any case, Rhodes offers a full range of “distractions”. There are go-kart tracks in Faliraki, Damatria and Lardos, bowling alleys where you can play and enjoy a coffee or a drink, there is the possibility to rent bikes and all the equipment for cycling.

Not to mention the tennis courts (the Tennis Club is on the long road that leads from Rhodes to Kallithea), those of soccer, minigolf, squash, beach volleyball and much more. On the beach of Afandou there is an 18-hole golf course, which occupies 55 hectares. Riding enthusiasts can hire a horse in Pastida and Ialissos.
