Anthony Quinn Bay
One thing is sure: those who have visited it, hardly forget it. What we are talking about is the so-called Anthony Quinn Bay (known by locals as Bay of Vagies), one of the most famous and crowded beaches of the entire island of Rhodes. The bay is located about 17 kilometers from the city, along the east coast of the island, just 4 kilometers south of Faliraki.
The bay is located in the village of Ladiko, and it is a small but charming inlet of sand and gravel, long and narrow, characterized by an irregular and jagged coastline, with the hills covered with trees and facing, towards the shore, the rocks that enter into the sea. A sea that naturally shows itself between blue and emerald green, limpid and inviting. So transparent that you can clearly see the seabed, which are mostly sand and rocks, low at the right point, ideal for swimming. Above all, thanks to the crystal clear water, perfect even for scuba diving and snorkeling, given the extraordinary richness of the seabed.
The beach, which can be reached by going down a stairway, is well equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas and a small kiosk that “supplies” the bathers with snacks and refreshments. If you are hungry, a few steps away there is a tavern where you can taste the many specialties of the area, and a few hundred meters there is the village of Ladiko.
Finally, we can not but reveal why the beach is known around the world as Anthony Quinn Bay: right here, in this corner of paradise, the famous American actor came to shoot some scenes of his films, and fell in love so much of that small inlet to decide to buy a small plot of land. Since then, this beach has become the Anthony Quinn Bay for everyone.
